The Question That Remains Even When We Have Everything
If our hearts remain unfulfilled even after enjoying so much, where should we look for the meaning of life? Ecclesiastes contains the confession of someone who experienced wisdom, power, and abundance, yet could not hold on to life's meaning through those things alone. As we stand before these words, I would like us to consider not what more we need to have, but what our hearts desire most deeply.

Facing Emptiness in the Brevity of Life
When life is busy, it is easy to take time for granted. But when a relationship changes, an unexpected farewell comes, or we face the silence after something we prepared for a long time has ended, we realize that life passes more quickly than we thought. I, too, want to ask with you how we should live in this brief span of time. What if, like the prayer in Psalms, we began the path of wisdom by learning to number our days?

A Repetitive World and a Heart That Remains Unfilled
Ecclesiastes portrays the sun, the wind, and the rivers moving in endless cycles. The eye is not satisfied with seeing, and the ear is not filled with hearing. Even as new technologies and trends keep appearing, we want to see more, own more, and rise higher. In the midst of this cycle, I would like us to consider whether our desires alone can satisfy the deep thirst of our hearts.

Not Turning Away from Emptiness, but Turning Our Eyes to God
Feeling a sense of emptiness does not mean that we must deny everything of value in life. I believe that when we do not turn away from that feeling, we can look honestly at life's limits and turn our eyes toward the eternal God. When we acknowledge that we cannot create perfect meaning and security by our own strength, space opens for us to reconsider our relationship with God.
I believe that life's fundamental emptiness begins in our distance from God. Romans presents this problem through the realities of both sin and death.

The Imperishable Hope of the Gospel
I believe that through the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we can see the problems of death and emptiness in a new way. What we accomplish under the sun may one day disappear, but the gospel points to life and hope rooted in our relationship with God. Rather than struggling to suppress our anxiety, what if we brought the deepest questions of our lives honestly before God?
