What Can Satisfy Life's Deepest Thirst?

Sometimes, even after getting what we need, we still feel that a part of our hearts remains unfilled. Where does that longing come from? Rather than judging it as simply a lack, I would like to look at it with you as a question about our relationship with the source of life.
A Question from Deep Within
Could there be a longing deep within us to know God and find meaning in life? I do not think we can judge that longing merely by looking at a person's outward behavior or circumstances. Just as each of us seeks help in different ways when life is hard, the deep questions of the heart can also take many forms.
A Conversation by the Well
Jesus travels through Samaria and meets a woman by a well. In John 4:4, we read that Jesus took a road people of his day avoided. I believe Jesus saw the longing in the woman's heart rather than only her outward appearance.
Their conversation about water becomes a metaphor pointing to a deeper thirst. I think the empty place in our hearts that neither people nor possessions can fill may be a longing for a living relationship with God. I do not mean to define everyone's condition in the same way. I simply want us to ask together what the thirst within us is reaching for.
Why Doesn't Satisfaction Last?
I believe we were created to be with God, and that other things alone cannot bring complete satisfaction. I would like to share with you that faith is a relationship of trusting God, in which we let go of trying to make ourselves the masters of our own lives.
Matthew 1:21-23 introduces Jesus as Immanuel, God with us. In this name, I see the heart of God, who does not leave us alone.I do not want to say that this faith immediately answers every question or removes every difficulty. Rather, I would like to encourage us to seek life's purpose not in achievement or possessions themselves, but in being with God.
The Promise of God's Presence
I read the broad story of the Bible as the story of God desiring to be with us. Life still brings difficulties we must walk through, but the faith that we are not alone on that road can bring peace to our hearts.
Revelation 21:3 speaks of the New Jerusalem and God's dwelling place. I see this picture of God and humanity together as a hope the Bible sets before us.What if we entrusted the worries of our hearts to God? I, too, need to practice letting go of the desire to control every problem and learning to trust God. This is the path I want to keep learning with you in faith.
Worshiping in Spirit and Truth
The woman asks where people should worship, and Jesus speaks of worshiping in spirit and truth rather than focusing on the place of worship. We find this conversation in John 4:23-24. I believe that through worship we can meet God and receive new strength for our souls.
Through Jesus, the way to God has been opened. Rather than using worship to escape life's problems, I hope we can come to see it as an opportunity to look anew at our relationship with God.
